The Mission of Vivian D. Adams Early Childhood Center is to create and foster a safe, nurturing educational environment that focuses on the social development and growth of the whole child through partnerships with families and the community.
Our Vision is to provide a cooperative, caring, and supportive community that promotes a culture of learning that will ensure the opportunity for student achievement.

East St. Louis School District 189 families are encouraged to review the School Year 2027 bell schedule and important early release dates. Students will be dismissed one hour early every Wednesday.

As promised to our families in 2026, East St. Louis School District 189 is applying for School Year 2027 funding through the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) Grant Program.

East St. Louis School District 189 marked a major milestone in student opportunity and workforce development with the groundbreaking of its $17.2 million Career and Technical Education (CTE) facility expansion at East St. Louis Senior High School.

A growing number of students at East St. Louis Senior High School are taking bold steps toward their future by qualifying to attend Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) full-time while still in high school.
After recently completing the ACCUPLACER exam, a new group of students (see attached photo) has qualified — an opportunity that allows them to earn college credit and accelerate their path to a degree.
